Kwik Cricket is a type of cricket meant for children and it is played to encourage the kids to take up the actual sport seriously.
Kwik cricket is played with plastic bats and balls and so the injury risk is minimal. The rules can be altered to a great extent to facilitate the game. But certain rules are fixed. They are:
- Each team bats for eight overs
- Each team has to have at least one girl in the side
- The teams start with 200 runs and with the fall of a wicket, five runs are deducted. Runs can be scored in the conventional way.
- Every single player in the fielding team has to bowl at least one over, either overarm or underarm.
Kwik cricket has gained considerable popularity in Australia, New Zealand and England, and is slowly spreading to other countries as well. It is a very innovative type of cricket and also a fun way to introduce children to cricket.
