Surrey County Cricket Club has one of the best records in county championships. It won the first County cricket championship in 1890. Then from 1887 Surrey County Cricket Club won the County Cricket championship eight times in a row. The winning habit surfaced again in 1952 when the club won the championship seven successive times.

History of Surrey County Cricket Club
The Surrey County Cricket Club was formed on 22 August 1845. Its inaugural match was against Kent at the Oval. The club had an ominous start with debts casting clouds of uncertainity over the future of the club. Soon the debts were cleared and victories, one after the other rolled towards the club.
Famous Players of Surrey County Cricket Club
Surrey has contributed number of players to the England side.Players like Alec Stewart, Graham Thorpe and Mark Butcher apart from being a blue Surrey, were all good players for England.
Mark Ramprakash, who played for Middlesex previously, has been an outstanding player for Surrey. Though he has not met with the same success in international cricket, he never seems to be out of the reckoning for a test recall.
In 2005, Surrey seemed to have run out of luck as it found itself banished to the Second Division.
