Durham County Cricket Club is the youngest in the county circuit. It won the first-class status in 1991. Durham County Cricket Club uses the name Durham Dynamos while playing in National League and Twenty20 Cup.
History
The club was officially formed in 1882. It built up a formidable reputation as a minor county, in fact it was the first minor county which beat a first class playing county in the Gilette Cup. Durham County Cricket Club has won the minor Counties Championship nine times and had an amazing run of matches from 1976 to 1982 without losing a single one of them.
Recent Performances
Durham has not had any remarkable success in first class cricket so far. In 2005 Durham finished second, which enabled it to enter County Championship and one-day National League Cricket.
The players
Two of Durham County Cricket Club's players Steve Harmison and Liam Plunkett have made it into the England side recently. Among the notable overseas players Durham County Cricket Club has Nathan Astle, Shoib Akhtar.
