Club Cricket is one of the most popular types of amateur cricket. Though amateur, it is played with a lot of seriousness and most of the rules of cricket are applied in the game. Club Cricket is usually played in limited overs, ranging from twenty to fifty overs per side. Sometimes the matches are played over two days with each team playing two innings. This is however an exception and in most cases the sides play just one innings each.
The majority of the players playing Club Cricket are amateurs, but at times some professional cricketers also engage in playing Club Cricket. At times some professionals play club cricket for practice after they return from injuries or the like.
The social aspect in club Cricket is very prevalent. The tea break in-between innings and the beer drinking after the match are as important to Club Cricket as is the game itself.
Club Cricket is popular in many Test playing countries around the world, and more so in England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Many clubs have their own stadiums and the clubs that don't are sometimes called the wandering sides.
