| Sri Lanka is presently ranked sixth in ODIs according to ICC ratings. Its recent series against England in April 2006 saw it sweeping the one-day series by 5-0. This was England's worst defeat in many years. Sri Lanka was, as the English discovered, completely unstoppable, as many of matches were won by large margins.
What must have been heartening for any Sri Lankan fan was the return of successful Jayasuria after a brief retirement. He scored two massive centuries, which comprised 122 and 152 in the ODI series. Murliatharan too was phenomenal in the test series. He grabbed 24 wickets from 3 test matches.
