The Canada team's World Cup history isn't very long and promising as Canada have participated in only two editions of the tournament.
The 1979 World Cup - Canada participated in the 1979 World Cup but did not manage to get past the first round. Canada played three matches in the tournament against strong opponents Pakistan, England and Australia, and unfortunately lost all the three matches.
They did not qualify for any of the subsequent World Cups from 1983 to 1999. However they qualified for the 2003 World Cup after a third place finish in the 2001 ICC Trophy.
The 2003 World Cup - Canada, playing in the World Cup after 34 long years, were not expected to perform too well in the tournament. However they made a good start to the tournament by defeating the Test side, Bangladesh. However they could not continue the good run and lost all of their consecutive 5 matches and bowed out after the first round.
