Bangladeshi Cricket Team's Recent Performances
The Bangladeshi Cricket Team's recent performances have not been too disappointing, though the team would surely like to improve on their performance before the 2007 World Cup. In the last two years or so, the team has shown promise and is looks to be playing with a lost of zeal. A lot of the credit for this goes to coach Dav Whatmore who has shown the team a new direction.

2006

Bangladesh has had a reasonably good 2006. they started the year off with an ODI win against Sri Lanka, thereby registering their first win against Sri Lanka. In march 2006, Bangladesh pulled off a sensational series win over Kenya by winning all the four matches. It was a feather in the cap as Kenya have always been considered a better side than Bangladesh. In April they came within stone throwing distance of winning a Test against Australia after having the world champions in a spot of bother. However Australia pulled it off and Bangladesh were denied victory. A low phase occurred in July when they had a disastrous tour of Zimbabwe, losing all the matches. But they bounced back and defeated Kenya 3-0 in August, thereby salvaging their pride.

2005

2005 is probably marked as Bangladeshi cricket's golden year. After a disappointing run of 34 Tests without a win, Bangladesh finally registered its first Test win in January 2005 by defeating Zimbabwe comprehensively by 226 runs. Bangladesh's good run continued and they registered their first ever ODI series win too in that very series. The year just kept getting better and on June 18, Bangladesh scripted history by defeating world champions Australia in an ODI in England. It was probably their greatest achievement thus far and also a good way to silence the critics who constantly criticized the team for their below par performance.

The Bangladeshi Cricket Team's recent performances, though not applaudable, have been improved and show that the team is taking care to better its standing in world cricket. With some more hard work and dedication, Bangladesh can surely become one of the better cricket teams in the world.
