Mohammad Rafique is a rhythmical left-armer who played in Bangladesh's inaugural Test, against India at Dhaka in November 2001. He bounced back in May 2003, with figures of 6 for 77 against South Africa. It was the best bowling performance by a Bangladeshi in 19 Tests and it put Rafique in the spotlight. In the later part of 2003 he became the leading wicket-taker in the series against England. St Lucia. His 5 for 65 against Zimbabwe at Chittagong was instrumental in Bangladesh winning their first-ever Test and he played a vital role in turning around the one-day series against them as well.
