He was named as Tasmania's deputy vice-captain for the 2003/04 season. Born and raised in Queensland but moved to Tasmania for the 2000/01 season to gain the chance to play first-class cricket.
He is a part of Australia's under-19 squad that took part in the 2000 Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka. He scored an unbeaten 100 on his first-class debut for the senior Australia side, against South Africa A in Port Elizabeth on the Travelex tour of 2002, reaching three figures with a six.
