Probably the fastest bowler in the world today, Brett Lee is one of the most colorful personalities of world cricket. Having a record speed of 99 mph, and only Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar as competition, Brett Lee continues to be one of the most formidable bowlers in the game of cricket.
After making a dream debut in 1999-'00 against India, Brett Lee announced his arrival in world cricket. However, in 2001 he broke his elbow and that forced him out of the game for sometime, and given the level of competition, his comeback looked challenging. But he took up the challenge and after his return to the side in 2002, took five wickets in the three-Test series against Pakistan in 2002. But he was dropped in favor of Andy Bichel for two tests during the 2002-03 Ashes series.
After being left out of the test squad for a number of games, he burst back into action in the first test of the 2005 Ashes series for which he was selected after successful one-day performances. He has been very successful ever since, and his contributions with the bat are also worthy of mention. Since his batting has always shown a lot of potential, he has expressed his desire of being known as an all rounder someday.
Apart from cricket, Brett Lee is also a talented musician and a designer of men's clothing. He got married to Elizabeth Kemp on June 3, 2006.
