As a brilliant all-rounder, Andrew Symonds has been a great discovery for Australia in the recent past. He made his debut in 1998 in ODIs but was not consistent, leading to him being often left out from the side. But everything changed in the 2003 World Cup when in a match against Pakistan he scored a blazing 143 not out in just 125 balls. That was the turning point of his career. He continued his good form and now his batting seemed more focused and unlike in the past when it seemed like a radar less ship. However, he has not been able to master the longer version of the game yet and often loses his focus in Tests.

Andrew Symonds was born in England, but chose to play for Australia. He also had the option of representing West Indies as his parents hail from the Caribbean. He has so far represented Australia in 10 Tests and 146 ODIs. Apart from being a handy batsman, he is also a very useful bowler who can bowl both spin and medium pace. A raw talent, Andrew Symonds is now seen as an important part of the Australian ODI team. provides the profile of Andrew Symonds and other cricketers around the world.
